D2R reads character data from a slightly different folder ( C:\Users\[Username]\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected ). To bring your years-old classic Lord of Destruction heroes into the modern graphical remaster, simply copy your old .d2s files from your classic save folder and paste them directly into the modern D2R folder. The game will automatically convert the file structure to the modern format the moment you click play. Note, however, that this conversion is a one-way street; updated D2R save files cannot be moved backward into classic 1.14d Diablo 2.
