One of the most common mistakes in CG imagery is making everything too perfect. Real life has scratches, dust, uneven edges, and worn patches. To combat this "CG perfection":
Always enable this in your effect stack. It calculates how light bounces from the sky onto your surfaces, softening shadows and filling dark corners. Turn the "Brightness" up for interiors and keep it moderate for exteriors. 2. Materials: Texture & Weathering
Ensure your CAD/BIM model (Revit, SketchUp, Rhino) has detailed geometry. Add bevels to edges, as perfectly sharp edges don't exist in reality.
Lighting defines the mood. Lumion 10 offers advanced tools to mimic natural and artificial light. A. Natural Light (Sun and Sky)
To take your Lumion 10 renders to the next level, keep the following tips in mind:
: Set the brightness and quality to High or Ultra to improve ambient lighting and shadow softness. 2. Material Tweak for Realism
: Always use normal maps to add depth. If you don't have one, Lumion can automatically generate normal information from your texture map.
Set the shadow type to Sharp or Soft depending on your sun intensity. Enable Global Illumination to allow light to bounce off surfaces, which is critical for realistic interiors.
